DEWA ATHENA VII

Last Saturday, there was a sport olympic on my school. The name is DEWA ATHENA VII. It's the 7th year of DEWA ATHENA on my school, it held every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. So, this event will be around 2 months. Last Saturday was the opening of DEWA ATHENA VII. The opening were greetings from the head of the event and our Head of Student Council. Then our beloved headmaster, Pa Encang. After that, there was color run! We ran with the mascot who brought a torch and the sportwomen and sportmen leading us. I was the sportwoman from my class with Reza.
The route was from Bali field to Belitung street, then Saparua, then Bali streey. It was tiring because I can't run fast..... So I was late than other sportwomen and sportmen. Fortunately Fadhilla accompanied me. Thanks you omg. It's really fun! Then we selfied and took much photos in basketball field. Then the game started with football match between Liga BM all star and XI 3.
Well, our class played in relay race, tug of war, and girl mini soccer. Andddddd.............  We lose them all. But, I hope we can win in another time. Yeay. So these were our photos last Saturday.

ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA

The size, shape, and distance from the Earth’s surface of the ice crystals determine what kind of optical phenomenon people on Earth will observe. It also depends on whether the light is reflected or refracted by the ice crystals. Reflection occurs when light bounces off the surface of an object. On the other hand, refraction occurs when light enters an object and bends.

The explanation above is about atmospheric phenomena which is happened naturally. Ms. Wiwin asked us to post a natural phenomenon and I chose the Atmospheric Phenomena to be my natural phenomenon because it's cool! I always love to see the skies so I am impressed with the beautiful skies.
Sundogs, light pillars, and other kinds of halos seen in the sky are atmospheric phenomena that occur when light, usually from a natural source, but also sometimes from artificial sources, is reflected or refracted by ice crystals in the atmosphere. So, I'll tell you about the Ice Crystals and the definition of each type of Atmospheric Phenomena.

Ice Crystals
Ice crystals can be found high up in the sky all around the world, at any time of the year. Generally, these crystals, which have a hexagonal molecular structure, are found in the cirrus clouds. Sometimes, in very cold weather, ice crystals form very close to the Earth’s surface. These crystals are known as diamond dust.
While the molecular structure of ice crystals is always hexagonal, their shape can vary from a flat plate to a column. Halos and other optical phenomena are created because of the interplay between the shape of the ice crystals and the angle between their facets. This angle is always 60 or 90 degrees. Because of this, scientists who study atmospheric optical phenomena classify them as 60 degree or 90 degree phenomena.
In addition to the shape of the ice crystals and the angle between the facets, the orientation of the ice crystals also determines the kind of optical phenomenon that will be created. Plate shaped crystals float in the air horizontally like a leaf. On the other hand, column shaped ice crystals tend to float in the air vertically.

Types of atmospheric phenomena:

Halos
Two kinds of halos are most commonly observed from Earth – the 22 degree and the 46 degree halos. In general halos can be seen throughout the year, around the world. However, they are more often seen in the winter months because the cold weather creates better conditions for the formation of halo-generating ice crystals.
22 degree halos are formed when light passing through an ice crystal bends 22 degrees, while 46 degree halos occur when the light bends 46 degrees.
22 degree halo

Sundogs
A sundog, also known as sun dog, mock sun or parhelion, consists of glowing spots around the sun. They are created by sunlight refracting off plate shaped ice crystals in the cirrus clouds. Sundogs are some of the most frequently observed optical phenomena and can be observed throughout the year and anywhere in the world. They are also associated with 22 degree halos.
Sundogs tend to be most visible when the Sun is close to the horizon. The part of a sundog closest to the Sun tends to be red in color, while the areas further away from the Sun generally appear blue or green.
Light from the Moon also creates glowing spots on both sides of the Moon, called moondogs. Also known as mock moon or paraselene, moondogs are rarer than sundogs because they only occur when the Moon is full or close to being full.

Light Pillars
Generally seen in cold, arctic regions, light pillars are an optical phenomenon where columns of light can be seen emanating from below or above a light source. Light pillars occur when natural or artificial light reflects off flat ice crystals in the air close to the Earth’s surface.
Light pillars caused by the Sun are called Solar or Sun pillars, while those caused by the Moon’s light are called Lunar or Moon pillars. When the light source is the Sun, light pillars are usually seen when the Sun is near the horizon. While Sun and Moon pillars are more common, light pillars can also occur due to the presence of artificial lights.
Because the ice crystals in the atmosphere reflect the source light, light pillars tend to take on the color of the light source.

Parhelic Circle
Parhelic circles are a rarer optical atmospheric phenomenon. They are white circular bands in the sky at the same level as the Sun or Moon. Generally, only parts of the circle can be seen at a time. They are generated when vertical or nearly vertical ice crystals of any shape reflect sunlight (or moonlight).

That's it! I hope you can enjoy my post. Thank you :)

Hello guys, today in English lesson, Ms. Wiwin gave us an advertisement task. We had to make an advertisement and the target is student. So.... I made this advertisement.
I persuade all of you to read!! Reading is a must. Reading improves your knowledge and imagination. Also, your brain will more working and think more logically, so you can more critical yet accurate. You can make your frikin' enemy down to your feet because of your smartness. And people will love you if you use this smartness right and humbly. Brainy is the new sexy:)
You can read any books, anytime, anywhere. Books won't give you bad influence if you can control your state of mind and choose wheter it's right or wrong things. But if you read the adult book, then you're completely perv.
So, all the teenager out there, use your time for reading. Stop doing stupid things such as bullying, smoking, even drugging! It's completely not cool. Ew! It's just wasted our time. Reading is a lead to a sunny future. You can learn so much from reading. From life philosophy to how to crack an egg. You can even learn love life or increase your care in social society.
So, don't forget to read every day!

Ps. Even read your grocery list. I'm not the only one who read it, aren't I?

CULINARY-YUM!

As I said on the previous post, on my holiday I and my friends went around some cafés do culinary things. Last Saturday, we went to trending cafe on instagram. It was Crumble&bites. The cafe is really near my house, we went there on foot. It is on Sukajadi Street in Mayfair Building. On the ground floor there are "Rumah Buah" where you can buy groceries and some imported foods, my mom often shops there, and a coffee shop too.  Crumble&bites is on the first floor. There are dessert shop and ramen restaurant too. And on the second floor is some kind of beauty and health things based on the sign I read.
Then, we entered the cafe and chose the outside to sat. The sky was so bright and blue with the palms around the street, so I can say that the scenery was beautiful.
The menu mostly was breakfast menu, and we chose sort kind of crepes. It's Ovomaltine Hangover. And the drink, we chose the house specialty,  Fuzzy Cotton Candy. There are a lot of specialty drink, one of them is a popcorn drink! But, I've been craving for Fuzzy Cotton Candy since a long time so I prefer to choose it. Fuzzy Cotton Candy is a lime drink and on the top of it is cotton candy. It's so cute but we had some difficulty to drink and eat the cotton candy cause it's a bit sticky. And, God! The crepes was so delicious! There were vanilla ice cream and some crisp on the top of it, and there're some bananas inside it. Yummy! But, well the price was poor for a student like me tho. That's one of cafe I visited and I wish I can visit again and someone will pay the foods tee hee :))

HOLIDAY-YEAY

Holiday yeayy! Finally, after a long semester we got three weeks off! Bye school I won't miss you a second. Fortunately I didn't get any short semester which was a gift from God. Thanks God. So I kept the lesson books off of my eyes, cause I really needed a break after a rough semester. It was my first semester on senior high school but it felt so long and tireeeeeed which was sad.
Well, I spent the most of my holiday in my home. I didn't go to another city nor country because my family is sort of homey type,  but it's okay I could wake up on 10am. Then I surfed the Internet and read some riddles. Riddle's great though, it's like there are a story and it's strange and we have to think what's wrong or who's the murderer yeah some kind of it. It's mind blowing that's why i like them.
On the last Saturday on 2014, I went to Saparua jogging track to 'running'. I woke up early finally. But, actually I just ran the half of the track and ended up walking. Most of them just chit chatting with my bf tee hee. After 'running' we went to ciwalk and decided to watch a movie, it's still 10am so we stopped at J.co and bought j.cool. But guess what, buy two get one free. Alas, we ate three ice cream at once after burned some calories so... The day went so well after all.
So my new year, I got no resolution though, alas. I just hope 2015 goes well. My family didn't celebrate new year,  but we cooked a lot of food because the friends of my grandmother will came and I helped a little on afternoon and went to my room to play some games hehe. I like to be alone at home,I just didn't like people around..  Need some peace in life yo.
On the first Saturday on 2015, I went it with him. We went to bookstore, searched some books. Bookstore is my favorite place to go, I really like to see the stationary and stacked books. I don't mind if I have to go there again and again. Then we went to cafe at Bandung Indah Plaza and then looked up some import books on store named Books and Beyond. Just like every dates,  it went so well.
Well that's my fun part of my holiday, despite of watched dvds and went around some restaurant and cafe with friends. Oh, God the holiday went fast! I'm not ready for the busyness and hectic days of school.... Well I hope this semester goes better than yesterday. Cheer up!

Almondseed and Almondella

Once upon a time there was a very poor man named Almondseed. He lived in a little village in a remote corner of Greece with his wife Almondella.

One day, Almondseed was walking through the village and happened to see a black hen tied up outside the weaver’s hut. He walked on, thinking nothing of it. A few moments later, a hysterical woman ran out of her hut exclaiming that her prize black hen had been stolen and crying for help. Almondseed whipped out an old book of his and pretended to read in it where her hen was to be found. Thrilled at the recovery of her hen, the woman paid him handsomely for his help. At that moment, Almondseed realized he could do pretty well pretending to be a seer and changed careers from poor village gadabout to entrepreneurial sage.

Word of his wisdom and ability to see things spread and one day the king’s servants appeared at Almondseed’s door. They asked him if the Queen, who was pregnant, would give birth to a boy or a girl. Almondseed pretended to consult his old book and kept muttering “Boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl…” until the king’s servants grew weary of his nonsense and left. As it happened, the Queen then gave birth to twins, one a boy and the other a girl. Thrilled with Almondseed’s apparent prophetic qualities, the King summoned him to the palace.

Once there, he was told that the King’s coffer had been stolen and the King wanted Almondseed to please tell him where it was so that it could be recovered. Almondseed retired to his room and asked for some almonds. Hearing that the King had sent for this renowned prophet to recover the coffer, the thieves made sure to be at hand and spied on Almondseed to make sure he would not tell anyone where they had hidden the coffer.

On the first night, the first thief snuck into Almondseed’s room. As the thief watched, Almondseed remarked to himself, “This is the first,” meaning the night. The thief thought that Almondseed meant him and ran off, scared for his life. On the second night, the second thief snuck into Almondseed’s room and heard him say, “The second has come,” once again meaning the evening. The second thief was similarly scared of Almondseed’s apparent powers and ran off. On the third night, there was the same misunderstanding and the thieves begged for Almondseed’s mercy and told him that they would reveal where the coffer was hidden if only he did not turn them over to the King. Almondseed agreed and turned the coffer over to the King who was once again thrilled by Almondseed’s prophetic work.

As a final test, the King took Almondseed into the garden. The King had an almond hidden in his hand and asked Almondseed what he held in his hand. Almondseed muttered something about his own name and his wife, Almondella. The King mistook his meaning and thought he meant the almond itself and the almond tree beside them and rewarded Almondseed with much gold. Almondseed retired wealthy and happy back to his village and lived happily ever after with Almondella.
